October 6, Esquimalt Hbr Beach, 72F and sunny

There was not a cloud in the sky today. Avona and I spent an afternoon with a boxful of treasures and our cameras at the beach. We watched the wind change, played in the water, the sand and the wind and then hurried home when the batteries were dead and the frozen grapes were gone... excited to check out our photos on the big screen.

There is so much texture here at the beach!!!

Dragons are vanquished, crystals and glass orbs wash up on the shore.

Four horses on a trail ride...

and one headstrong and spirited boy... frustrated with his trainer...

This was so powerful to witness, and the trainer had such a quiet strength about her, a confidence, alpha training alpha...

Altars in natural settings...

Lace  shadows

the beautiful goddess mask

Lace fierceness capturing a feast of flies

Carefree - A Carefree Day

And then we noticed the wind changed...

Sometimes you just have to know when to let go...

My Samhain Altar - a frozen moment of flux

Feathers and curls in shadow
Gina made her with her own bare hands

So much beauty, so much Jessica!

See how this painting dwarfs Genya!

And just as amazing an image on the other sidde of the arch...

The scale of this artwork is so massive...

The raven's fierceness and the man's strength in the light of the full moon...

Instead of touching the hand of god, he touches the hand of the goddess, balance ensues

This is the Burnside-Gorge overpass where the mural resides over the world renowned Galloping Goose bike trail...

Jess has an alien in her armpit...

I'm just gonna take a minute and let it ride, I'm just gonna take a minute and let it be...

The whole CEDRIC concept boils down to this simple line. Kneejerk responses to stresses make for embedded issues. If we stop listening to 'what' our Drill Sgt is judgementally saying immediately after a stressor, and see the Drill Sgt for what it is, rather a signal that issues are at stake, then the best thing we can do is take a minute and let it ride... because then we have time to come up with a better solution that includes how to manage with personal dignity, integrity and in a self-honouring manner.

Gonna take a minute and let it breathe...

CEDRIC is the eating disorder clinic I work for. I am assistant to the Director and the perks are that I have to read and ingest all my boss's philosophies on healing in the process of my assembling workbooks for weekend intensives. She's written an incredible book on the topic of taking personal action by healing ourselves called "Food is not the Problem" and you can learn more by clicking here to be magically transported to the CEDRIC Centre interactive website.

Donovan sings this earworm in my head as I can't sleep and I'm finding myself home alone and up at the crack of the crack of dawn.

I'm a picture uploading fool, I tell you, in the famed words of Natalie, my Engrish teaching friend.

Hear's my latest batch. I spent an insular day at home only venturing out for some Thai soup and booze around the corner and down the street. These photos grab the mood of the late summer day. Trees are turning colours and dropping gold everywhere and you really need a sweater at the dusks that are earlier every day if you are going to be outside in the evening.

At the end of 'cruise season', the ocean liners hang out in Esquimalt Hbr for one last wrap-up night and onship party... guess that was tonight...

Tonight's sunset looking over towards Metchosin

This and the next two should be linked as this is our stellar view today...

Another peek at the huge liner just offshore

More ocean traffic

Setting sun does interesting things to my collection of crockery

Bella prefers to sit 'by' her brother's cat blanket

Our eagle's live here above Saxe Point.

Can you spot the eagle's tree from here?

Where we go for Thursday night, Steak night... The Chief's and PO's Mess, just down the street from us...

Where the party wuz ...

That's it for now. Ron's made it as far as Osoyoos, he's going to be up early and on his way to Trail today. The cats and I eagerly await Genya's arrival.
